Beautiful Working Prewar Philco Wood Tube RadioBeautiful, working, prewar philco wood table radio. This set is a model 42-322 and dates to the 1942 model year- a shortened production year due to the war. Beautiful, originla finish, it is for the discriminating person who values originality in their collectibles/antiques. This unit stands in direct contrast to some of those refinished sets you see here on ebay that say professionally refinished with grain fillers, toners and lacquers, only to look like a craft fair/high school student job that you could scratch your fingernail in the exposed wood grain and have the wrong amount of luster in the refinish- and many times looking bleached in tone and flat/lifeless with no reflectivity. Unit has original knobs, glass dial scale lens (the photos show reflections of me and my camera), grille mesh cloth (behind the wood louvers), upper rfont center philco decal, and knob function decals. The radio never had a back to it from the factory, and therefore doesn't now. The set plays loudly, clearly with good tone, no hum- on both bands.It has the usual am/broadcast band, as well as a shortwave band featuring the international broadcasters. Just tonight, i heard russia, china, japan, cuba, spain, and canada. Has good, safe, power cord, and owrking dial light. The radio measures 13 inches wide, 7 1/2 deep adn 8 inches high. All radios sold have had preventative electrical maintainence, so that they perform as well in the foreseeable future. As they do when you first get them. I stand behind the components i've repaired, parts and labor- for 90 days. After that- free labor for 6 months. Why would you bother with someone who says they've restored the radio and then tell you you are buying as is- and why wuold someone's warrantee be worth anything if you can't find them again on ebay? The insides of my radios are given the same attention as the outsides.
