The extremely desirable 1932 philco 90 'grand cathedral'. This 9 tube balanced super-heterodyne classic was designed by edward combs and was the top of the line radio 76 years ago. Boasting state of the art technology with automatic volume control, 4 point tone control, back lit shadow dial, room filling sound, and a stunning cathedral cabinet, this great piece of american history is considered one of the most beautiful and well designed radios ever made. Cabinet the large cathedral designed cabinet is simply exquisite. The high quality walnut produces osme of the most stunning wood grains seen from this era. A beautiful swirling burl wood highlights the front of the radio complimented beautifully by darker horizontal columned sides. A gorgeous angled grain flows across the top of the cathedral's arch making for a magnificent contrast from the rest of the cabinet. The radio is finished off nicely with a large rat deco grill which not only looks spectacular but also allows for room filling sound from the large speaker. The cabinet's finish all of our radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process using a minimum 12 coats of mohawk brand lacquers and toners. A 1000, 2000, & 4000 grit wet sanding follows every third coat.
The process is finished off with a three step polishing process with a final oz glaze rub. Many horus of work are put into these cabinets but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful cabinet with a silk smooth finish and gorgeous luster & shine. Thsi cabinet is one of the best conditioned cabinets i have seen on a philco cathedral.
Obviously well cared for over the years. The only note to mention during the restoration process is a few small nicks on the tpo rear of the cabinet.

Nothing at all that detracts from the beauty of the set. Our radios are a great piece of history that come ot you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the house or office. Dial/knobs the four rosette knobs are in perfect condition and each function the way they should. Tuning, 4 point tone control featuring 'brilliant', 'bright', 'mellow', and 'deep' tones, on / off, and volume.

Teh back lit shadow dial is in excellent condition and works flawlessly lighting nice and bright. All numbers and markings indicating tsation frequencies are legible and show little signs of wear. The new escutcheon is in perfect shape nad features the 'philco 9 tube super het' logo in raised lettering. Electronics/chassis the monstrous 9 tube chassis is in outstanding condition and one of the best ever made by philco. The set features a pair of #47 output tubes, 4 point tone control, and advanced automatic volume control, incorporated into the circuit, allowing for superior performance with extremley sensitive reception, warm tone (your choice of brilliant, bright, mellow, & deep), and lots of volume with no hum. I was amazed at the long distance reception up adn down the dial on the am broadcast band. All of our sets chassis's are thoroughly cleaned, lubed and realigned.

All tubes, caps and resistors are tested and replaced as needed. I will include a 30 day warranty no the tubes, caps and filters. Dimensions 17 ¼w x 18 ½h x 12d.
